About Playtonite

Hobby teams end up with empty spots in their weekly shifts, and filling them usually means a round of WhatsApp calls, MobilePay hassle and cash in the changing room. Playtonite turns that into a single click: a team lists an open spot, a nearby player finds it on the map and books it for free.

Playtonite is currently completely free for both players and teams: we don't charge anything for bookings and we don't process payments. If a shift has a price, the player pays it directly to the team in the way the team specifies (for example MobilePay or cash on site). Payment processing and a commission model will be introduced later, and we'll announce that well in advance.

Playtonite was built by Ilkka and Aaron, who are hobby players themselves. The idea for the service didn't need to be dreamed up in a meeting room: it came from their own experience of scrolling Facebook groups and asking around in WhatsApp chats to see if there was room for one more this week.

Casual crews, clubs and rink-time organisers, as well as players who want to get on the ice or court without a permanent team. Launch focus: hobby ice hockey and indoor ball sports in the Helsinki metropolitan area.

1. Set up a team for free (name, logo, home venue).
2. List an open shift: sport, level, price paid on site and number of spots.
3. Players book a spot for free and pay you the way you've agreed.
